Andy Murray has revealed that his fiercest rivals on the tennis court and other big-name celebrity friends have not been invited to his wedding,Eurosportreports.
Murray, who is close to both Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, admitted that neither of the leading tennis stars had been afforded an invite to the ceremony which takes place on Saturday.
Djokovic, when asked about the wedding by reporters, simply said, “Not invited. But I wish him all the best.”
Equally, big-name friends Sir Sean Connery and Sir Alex Ferguson, who he is often seen with at the top tournaments on the circuit, will not be able to attend the wedding.
Indeed, according to the Daily Record, the most high-profile guest on Murray and fiancée Kim Sears’s wedding list will be former British number one Tim Henman.
The wedding list revelations came amid reports of 800m of bunting being hung out along the streets of Dunblane ahead of the big day.
“There won’t be any celebrities as such,” Murray was quoted as saying by the Daily Express.
“I don’t have any celebrity friends so it wasn’t something that was planned.
“The list will be everyone who we’re close to, people we’ve spent a lot of time with in the past but also people we see ourselves spending time with in the future.
“That’s how we came up with the names. Pretty much everything is done now and under control.
The 27-year-old has, however, invited a number of his Davis Cup team-mates.
“James Ward is coming and we invited Kyle Edmund but he can’t come as he’s playing,” he said. “Jamie Delgado will be there.”
Asked about preparations for the big day, to be staged at Cromlix Hotel, which Murray himself bought and developed in 2013, he was typically relaxed.
“Kim’s been pretty much doing it,” he said. “I’ve tried to help out when she has asked, but I haven’t been over-involved.
“I did all the food and cake tasting which I really enjoyed, although I didn’t think I was going to. It’s a big day for Kim.
“Pretty much everything is taken care of now. She seems fairly relaxed but as we get closer that might change.”
