Four boys aged 13 and 14 have been arrested on suspicion of raping a 15 year old girl in an area of grassland in Workington, Cumbria.
Acording to reports, detectives arrested the suspects overnight after the incident between 7pm and 7.20pm on Tuesday.
Police said in a statement:
“Three 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old – all from the Workington area – have been arrested on suspicion of rape and are currently in police custody.
“The offence is alleged to have occurred on a grassed area near Cloffocks car park in Workington at some time between 7pm and 7.2pm on Tuesday, January 3.”
Temporary Detective Superintendent Doug Marshall said when the alleged rape was first reported:
“The investigation is at an early stage.
“We have specialist officers supporting the victim at this time and we are urging anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.”
