People have begun gathering at the Peter Roos Park in Park Town, Johannesburg, in preparation for a march to the Mary Fitzgerald Square, against the scourge of xenophobia which has plagued the country.
More than 30 000 people are expected to be part of the march. The xenophobic attacks began in townships around Durban about three weeks ago and spread to Gauteng. At least seven people have been killed and thousands displaced.
Bus loads of people from all across the province are gathering in their numbers, as they prepare to march through the streets of Johannesburg in a spirit of unity and to show solidarity with foreign nationals.
