President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Amina Bala Zakari as the acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Zakari takes over from former Chairman, Attahiru Jega whose five-year tenure ended on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.

3) She attended the prestigious Queens College in Yaba, Lagos.
4) She earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Pharmacy from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in 1980.
5) She was appointed a National Commissioner of INEC in 2010.
6) She’s the first woman to occupy the position of INEC Chairman.
7) She was earlier rumoured to be Jega’s replacement when pressure mounted on the former INEC Chairman to resign before the 2015 general elections were held.
