SEE GOBE! Bus Conductor spitted on a female police officer
A Lagos 'Danfo' bus conductor, Odunayo Balogun, will know that the slogan, 'The Police Is Your Friend' exists only in name after he was arrested and arraigned for spitting in the face of a female police officer while she was carrying out her legitimate duties at the Pako Bus Stop, Akoka, Lagos.
Balogun have been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court for the offence which the prosecutor says is contrary to Section 284 and punishable under Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011, which stipulates a jail term of seven years.
The prosecutor told the court that the driver of the bus had parked on the road, leading to a gridlock and the policewoman who was controlling the traffic, allegedly challenged the conductor when she could not find the driver, leading to an argument.
Balogun, who threatened to beat up the officer of the law, allegedly spat on her face and body in the process and was subsequently arrested by her colleagues and arraigned on a one-count charge.
When the charge was read to the suspect, he pleaded not guilty and the magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Erinle granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000, with two sureties, while the matter matter was adjourned till October 5, 2015, for mention.
