A 27 year old man gunned down six people in a brothel after becoming ‘overcome with emotion’ when he discovered that a girl he had wanted was with another client.
The man identified as William Roberto Ferreira Costa, had arrived at the Leo Drinks Bar prostitution house saying he wanted to spend the night with a particular prostitute but he went into a jealous rage after he was told that the woman, 30-year-old Dione da Silva Lima, was already with another man in a bedroom in the brothel in Jaboticabal, near Sao Paulo in southeast Brazil.Costa, a hairdresser who is married with a newborn son, reportedly went to his car and brought a 38. calibre pistol from his car before returning to the establishment and opened fire.
After gunning down the brothel’s 72-year-old owner, her 29-year-old granddaughter, a barman, a waitress and a 46-year-old prostitute, Costa burst into the bedroom where Ms Lima was with Anderson Montenor, 37, a businessman in the town, and killed them both.Police chief Wanderley Santos said the murders were ‘very calculated’. He said:
‘The brothel is full of bullet holes, many more than a revolver carries, meaning that he reloaded more than once.
‘He was very calculated, very cold and very proficient. In most of the cases he aimed at the victims’ heads.
He shot those bullets without letting the caps
Costa reportedly fled the brothel on foot but left his car, containing his ID documents, in the establishment’s car park.He later gave himself up to police hours after the bloodbath yesterday (thurs) morning but claimed the murders were a crime of passion and that he had never intended to kill anyone.
Speaking to Brazil’s Radio 101 FM, he said;
‘I was overcome with emotion. The guy stole away the girl from me.
‘I said he shouldn’t have done that and there was an argument, a fight and things got out of control.’
