Two-time African champions Enyimba have returned to winning ways as they grabbed three points away at FC Taraba in one of the Nigeria Professional Football League Match Day Five games played on Wednesday.
A 58th minute goal by last season’s highest goal scorer, Mfon Udoh, sealed the game which ended 1-0 in Jalingo, in favour of the visitors. It was Udoh’s second goal in the league this season.
The Aba-based team have had a poor run this season, crashing out early from the ongoing CAF Champions League and sitting in 10th position after four league matches.
Before the match against Taraba, Enyimba had won one match, drawn two, and lost one.
Though Enyimba seem to have struggled in Jalingo, they did enough to run away with a win and avoid two straight losses after suffering a 1-0 defeat in the hands of Kano Pillars on Sunday.
The game went without booking until the 75th minute when Enyimba’s Babatunde Solomon got a yellow card for a rough tackle. Five minutes later, FC Taraba’s Abanyi Joshua was also booked for protesting the referee’s decision.
The match kicked off at about 3pm, one hour earlier than schedule because of a curfew imposed on Taraba State due to the rerun of the governorship election in the state which would hold on Saturday. Enyimba took toTwitterto celebrate their comeback.
